I Will Not Be Seeing....
...I am Legend. I actually wanted to see this movie until I read this article about the movie. I totally agree with the author of this article. You can do what you want to people, but once you start doing bad things to the animals in the movie, I'm outta there. "Emotional Kryptonite" just like the author says. I can't stand it.

Thought For The Day
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or hump it...
Pee on it and walk away.

Dog Show
So did you watch the Westminster Dog show? Uno the 15" Beagle was crowned Best in Show. I love his registered name, Ch K-Run's Park Me In First. I wonder what his litter mates were called?
Yay that it was a hound, boo that it wasn't a Whippet. The Whippet didn't even make it in the top four of the hound group. Well, Whippets have only won Best In Show once in the past 101 years and that was in 1964. Looks like the Fox Terriers have done well though. If you are interested to see what breeds have won over the years, here is the link.
In 2007 here is how the AKC ranked the top 10 dogs:
. Labrador Retriever
2. Yorkshire Terrier
3. German Shepherd Dog
4. Golden Retriever
5. Beagle
6. Boxer
7. Dachshund
8. Poodle
9. Shih Tzu
10. Bulldog
Whippets came in at number 62, right before the Chow Chow and right after the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Interestingly enough I have seem more Chows out and about than the Wheaten Terriers. Whatever. I wish Whippets were less popular. Even though I think they are the best dog breed out there, I know they are not good dogs for everyone. It seems like when a dog gets popular it starts being more popular with those nasty backyard breeders. People, NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy a dog from a pet store and NEVER EVER EVER from a backyard breeder. Go to the pound or a reputable breeder in the breed you are interested.
Okay, I'm off my soap box.

Good Things
Good things that have happened to me this week:
1. When I got my large hot chocolate at the little coffee stand I go to, the gal said, “I’m so sorry, but I accidently made an extra-large for you. Is that okay?” and I said, “Oh, sure. Do you want me to pay the difference?” and she said, “No, that’s okay.” Score!
2. I stopped at the vending machine downstairs with a hankering for some Nutter Butters. I put in my 85 cents and got TWO packages. SCORE!
3. I don’t have to serve on a jury this week. Yay! I looked on their website this afternoon and found this message:
Woo hoo!
See good things can happen. Admittedly, these are pretty small things, but they were nice anyway. And I'm sure more bad things are on the way so I will just enjoy the good while I can.

More Hats
Okay, here are the next three hats I've done. Deb, I'm telling you, Knifty Knitters are the way to go!

In case you are wondering what the heck I'm going to do with all these hats, there are a bunch of ladies at work that are making hats for a children's hospital. You should see what we've put together. We have such talented people there.
I have more hats to show. Stay tuned!

My Baby, my baby, my baby!
Whew! Finally got my computer back from the computer doctor extraordinaire, Michele. She fiddled and cleaned and deleted and waved her magic wand and now I have my computer working at a reasonable speed again. I just need to upgrade my memory and I’ll be good to go. Wish I could upgrade the memory in my head like I can in my computer!
It’s been a tough week, okay, it has only been five days, without my computer and without drinking soda. Next time I won’t schedule these things at the same time. AND the powers that be at work have said no more personal use of the internet at work. So I haven’t been able to check my email, read my favorite blogs, check up on all my letterboxing sites or ANYTHING. I can’t believe how dependant I am on that stupid machine. On the plus side, I have managed to get some laundry, dishes, cleaning and knitting done since I haven’t had the computer to keep me chained to my desk doing stupid stuff like playing solitaire.
Okay, more later. I have to go play some solitaire.
P.S. Anyone know what my title quote is from?

Picture Post
Better
Sorry about my pity party post last time. Things are a little better. Thanks to Leah & Diane for their hugs, hot chocolate, and cheer. I love you guys! It's so great to have people who care.
On the plus side, the dryer isn't broken. There was a little pencil from IKEA stuck in it somewhere that was causing it to make that horrible grinding sound. Greg took it apart and fixed it, so I can dry clothes again. I'll be doing laundry all weekend. Wheee! What could be more fun?
On the minus side, my friend Michele announced yesterday that she is leaving the City of Gresham to go work at the Portland Development Commission. I am going to miss her soooo much. She's a great friend, a wonderful co-worker, and the city is loosing a big asset. If PDC doesn't appreciate you, Michele, come back to us!
I'm going to be out of cyberspace all weekend. Michele is going to take my computer and give it a check up. It's been running slow and being tempermental. She's going to give it one more wave of her magic wand and get it working again. I don't know if I will be able to survive 2 1/2 days without my computer, but it will be good to try.
Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you that I am giving up soda again for Lent. Sigh.
So don't look for a post for a few days. I'll have pictures of my completed hats for you next week and update you on my laundry situation. Bet you can't wait, huh? Yeah, my life is one exciting event after another.

Ho Hum
I'm having one of those days. I can't get my act together today...this week...this month...this lifetime. I don't know what it is, but I can not get it together. I can't make it to work on time. I have so much stuff to do around the house from cleaning to organizing to projects and yet I never make any progress. I had to remove myself from the planning committe for the big letterboxing event coming up in September that I was all excited about because I don't feel I can give it my all. Well, I could give it my all, I guess, but then I'd have nothing left for anything.
Everytime I turn around something else is going wrong. Now my dryer is broken. I have no clean clothes. I'm going to have to do another cash advance to get us through the next couple of months...and probably to buy a new dryer. The dogs are both sick. Greg's new medicine is making him sick. I have so much to do both here and at work that I can't do any of it.
Okay, I'm too depressed to be writing in my blog right now. I guess that's why you haven't seen a post from me for a while. Give me hugs, gang. I need them right now.

TA DA!!!
So here's a picture of my first finished project of the year and the first hat I made on my Knifty Knitter.

What do you think?
I used a nobbly kind of yarn for this little baby's hat. I still have some of it left and I think will couple it with a solid pink yarn when I make my next one so that it is a little thicker.
Since this hat I've finished two others. My battery was dead on my camera, so I'll have to post pictures of those later (again).
