Greg went to the ankle doctor today and our Vegas-style lucky streak continues unchallenged. Turns out he has torn ligaments and tendons in that ankle he sprained back in November. The doctor says that ligaments will heal but the tendons can't heal themselves and he needs to have surgery on it. Um, and why didn't they find that out in the x-rays or the first MRI?? So he's been walking around on it for five months with the doctors telling him that it just takes time for a sprain to heal. Idiots.
Surgery means two weeks off of the ankle completely, and then 6 - 8 weeks recovery, followed by physical therapy. With the Greg Factor, that actually means 5 weeks completely off of it, and then 20 weeks of physical therapy. I apply the same theory to the GF as I do to figuring out how long it will take me to find a letterbox: figure about how long it should take, double that, then add a half hour.
Of course he is really depressed about this, as well as stressed. How are we supposed to finish the house and get it on the market if he has surgery? Yow. And how is he supposed to get a job when he'll need a bunch of time off right off the bat? Sigh.
Things are never easy, I tell you.
