I don't have anything special to report today. I've just been doing stuff today. Cleaned the office up a little, paid some bills, balanced the checkbook. Necessary but boring.
Here is a little list of things I'd like to do someday for your reading pleasure.
Things I would like to do someday:
1. Visit the Louvre
2. Volunteer in the Iditarod race
3. Go letterboxing in Dartmoor
4. See a musical on Broadway
5. See a musical on the West End in London
Interesting how all of those things require travel. Hmm, do I need a vacation????? Unfortunately, they require money too. But, hey, I take donations!

My friend Christine from work sent me these and I practically snorted coke through my nose laughing. Thought I'd share. I just can't decide which one is my favorite. They are all so good!

$66.35
That’s how much it cost me to fill my gas tank this morning. That was for 23 gallons of regular unleaded gasoline at the Arco station by my house. $2.899 a gallon. Isn’t that amazing? And when we first got the Expedition gas prices were around $.89/gallon. I could fill my tank for less than $25. I could go hog wild and fill it with the expensive stuff and still barely break $30. That was only 5½ years ago. How things change. Gas prices have more than tripled in that time. I don’t think my paycheck has kept up. Okay, I just looked it up and I was making about $17/hour then. I can tell you for sure that my salary has not tripled. But if you want to pay me $51/hour, feel free! I won’t complain about that.
Guess we aren’t going to go to the race meet this weekend in Mollala with those gas prices. Let’s see, it’s about 42 miles to Jeff & Ramona’s in Beavercreek, then another 42 miles to Clark Park in Molalla, plus the trips home again. So I’d travel about 170 miles to race the dogs both days. Say I get 15 miles to the gallon and my tank holds 25 gallons (I don’t know the exact figures, but those are close). That works out to 375 miles per tank. So, 25 gallons times $2.90/gallon is $72.50. To make life easy let’s say I drive 187 miles to the race meet (got to figure in that one letterbox I have to stop and get). I would use about 12 gallons of gas for taking my dogs to the race meets, which would cost me about $35. Just in gas. Then we have to put in the admission fee for the meet, which is $9 first dog, $8 second dog each day, that’s $34. Then I would probably stop to get breakfast and lunch each day. Say that’s $5 per meal, that $20 bucks.
So what do we have?
Gas $35
Admission $34
Food $20
Even if my math is a little faulty (which it probably is, math not being my strong point) it would cost me about $90 bucks to take my dogs racing this weekend! $45 per dog. Sheesh. I didn’t think I spent that much doing this sport. And that’s assuming I don’t buy some cool whippet gadget thing from someone at the meet. Like my dogs need another leash, collar, gew gaw, or whatever.
I think for that much money I can just stay home and work on the house like a good girl.

100,000
My Expedition turned over 100,000 miles today. It happened right by the Mill Plain Exit on I-205 on my way home. Because lately I've been thinking about things in terms of blogging and scrapbooking, I pulled over to the side of the road (no I didn't try to do this while I drove 60 mph) and took a picture of it with my new cell phone. Weird? Maybe. But I bet you wish you had a picture of your car when it turned over!

My poor little car is only 6 years old! How can it have so many miles on it already? What's that you say? Letterboxing? Whippet racing? Driving 20 miles to work each way? Okay, maybe that had something to do with it. Just maybe.

I'm Tired of...
Things I’m tired of hearing about
1. Gas prices/oil shortages. It’s price gouging, okay? That’s all it is. Quit making a fortune off of us working stiffs. Oh, and if I want to drive a gas-guzzling SUV, who the %&* are you to tell me that it is wrong? You don’t know me. You don’t know why I drive a big car. Get off my back about it. Besides, I get about 20 mpg in my Expedition, so nyah nyah.
2. Illegal immigrant rights. Um, illegal? Doesn’t that say it all? Do it legally and we’ll give you all the rights you could wish for. Oh, and if you don’t like it, try getting some of those rights back home. See how that works for ya.
3. George Bush is an idiot. Maybe he’s not perfect, but everything that happens in the world can’t be his fault. But he is the President of the United States, so show him some respect.
4. Paris Hilton. Who cares? Whatever it is about her, who gives a rip? And honestly, get a real dog. Sheesh.
5. Anything to do with Tom Cruise. Who. Cares.
6. The Middle East. You really need to get over yourselves, quit bickering, and play nice. If you can’t do that, just go blow yourself up somewhere where you won’t bother anyone else. You big bullies.
7. America / Americans suck. So go home then. Good luck with that.
8. Reality Shows. Um, they aren’t real, people. They are scripted and staged. They are also boring and stupid.
9. Murders, fires, rapes, and assaults on the news every night. Get over yourselves, quit bickering and play nice. And if you want to kill yourself, don’t destroy anyone else’s life because you are screwed up. Oh, P.S. Suicide by nail gun is a bad idea.
10. Brokeback Mountain. Ewww.

Just Stuff
I was organizing some pictures tonight and ran across Carmen's puppy pictures. I thought I'd share a couple of them. Isn't she cute??

Oh, and on a completely different topic, thanks to all of you who have mentioned that you like my blog. Feel free to use the comment section here and tell me! I love comments. It's like getting mail from all my friends.
Okay, I'm off to bed now.

What a Weekend!
What a weekend! I got so much stuff done. Saturday we got up and took the dogs to the dog park for a run. When we got home we worked on the bonus room floor and got about a quarter of it put down. There were some really tricky cuts that took time to do, but once those were done we cruised on it until we both got hungry and decided to stop. Sunday we went to the Pet & Companion Fair then took the dogs to MESD to run. We came home and I mowed the backyard while Greg sprayed bugs. THEN we worked in the garage for a while, cleaning out the trash, going through the recycling crap to get it ready to go out, and general tidying. AND I managed to get some laundry and dishes done. Oh, and don’t forget the scrapbooking pages I completed (see below). Okay, it doesn’t sound like much when I write it out here, but for us this is HUGE. We hardly ever manage to get this much done in a weekend.
Greg is really paying for all this hard work, though. His poor back is just killing him and his ankle is screaming in pain. He could hardly move last night. The pain was so bad, even after he took a pain pill, that he literally lost his breath because of it. Poor guy. I feel so bad for him when he hurts like that. Of course, some of that pain may have been from working on the floor yesterday all by himself. Silly man.
Let’s see. Today is Tuesday, so my parents are on the fifth day of their cruise. They were in Cabo San Lucas on Sunday and Puerto Vallarta yesterday. Today is an at sea day, so they are probably recuperating from their swim with the dolphins yesterday. I hope they had fun. Here’s their itinerary…doesn’t it look great?
Fri April 21 San Diego, CA
Sat April 22 At Sea
Sun April 23 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Mon April 24 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Tues April 25 At Sea
Wed April 26 Santa Cruz Hutulco, Mexico
Thurs April 27 Puerto Quetzal, Guatmala
Fri April 28 At Sea
Sat April 29 Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica
Sun April 30 Scenic cruising Golfo Dulce
Mon May 1 Panama Canal
Tues May 2 Cartagena, Columbia
Wed May 3 At Sea
Thurs May 4 George Town, Grand Cayman
Fri May 5 At Sea
Sat May 6 Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Sun May 7 At Sea
Mon May 8 At Sea
Tues May 9 New York, New York
I so wish we were there with them! I can’t wait to see their pictures and hear all about it. Did I mention that I wish we were there?

Look!
I did a couple of pages today using some of those pictures I put on here the other day. What do you think?
Here's Cleo under the trailer battery cover that was on the patio.

Here's Sophie. Look at those muscles!

And here's Carmen.

Too bad I can't take a decent picture. It was so sunny out and I was using the little preview pane screen thing to take the pictures that I did a crappy job of centering them. Oh, well. The pictures are cute, anyway.

Icons
I had lunch with two letterboxing icons today. Did I feel kind of special? Umm, yes. Der Mad Stamper is the father of letterboxing in the Northwest. Everyone says his name in a hushed tone with a sort of reverence. Well, until they try to solve one of his evil clues. Then they curse his name. He just laughs, and yes, it is a rather evil chuckle. I was so impressed the first time I met him. He was out of letterboxing for a while, but has come back in the last year or so with a vengeance. Maiden1974 is a good friend of mine who is VERY involved in the letterboxing community and has about seven billion boxes planted out there. She is an amazing carver and has a very evil and clever mind.
I don't usually get to see these folks outside of letterboxing, so it was fun to see them in a building for a change. :-) Of course, we just talked about letterboxing, so it wasn't that different from looking for boxes together, but that's okay.
Maiden has made me a scarecrow stamp to use for those "jeesh, if I only had a brain" moments that come upon me more and more. I can't wait to box with people so when someone does something dumb I can give them my stamp. Of course, I'm usually the one that does something blonde, so I may not get to use it much. Still, it will be nice to have a new traveler. My Book Goddess one is getting old.
I went after the Ace of Fun letterbox again today after I got my hair cut. This is like my 10th try to find this box. First I couldn't find the place. Then when I found it I didn't know the box had been pulled for maintenance and it wasn't there. THEN the next couple of times I went the place was closed. I looked for it last week only to find the place, um, changed (can't say too much or I'll give the clue away). I found the blankety-blank place today finally after driving around for 15 minutes trying to find it, only to get there and find the place closed. It was 3 minutes after 6 and they closed at 6:00. How rude is that??????? Sheesh. Well, at least I know where the silly place is FINALLY and what their stupid hours are, so I can go get the damned box. It better be worth it, that's all I have to say.
My mom & dad & grandma left for their cruise today. Yes, I'm majorly jealous. I hope they have a terrific time. I was going to link to their cruise info so you could see it, but Holland America's stupid web site is stupid. I can't find the damned thing. Oh great, now the stupid page has frozen. Okay I give up.
P.S. How many times did I use the word stupid in this post??? I think it must be time to go to bed. I'm getting crabby.

Fun in the Sun
When I was home sick on Tuesday, the day was so beautiful, I just couldn't stay inside, no matter how much my head hurt. So I took the kids outside to play in the backyard while I sat in the sun for a while and played with the camera. Here are some pictures of the kids. I'll probably scrap a page on it later. As soon as I figure out how to use Elements (yeah, still working on that...but I'm up to lesson 3).

Bad Ankle
Greg went to the ankle doctor today and our Vegas-style lucky streak continues unchallenged. Turns out he has torn ligaments and tendons in that ankle he sprained back in November. The doctor says that ligaments will heal but the tendons can't heal themselves and he needs to have surgery on it. Um, and why didn't they find that out in the x-rays or the first MRI?? So he's been walking around on it for five months with the doctors telling him that it just takes time for a sprain to heal. Idiots.
Surgery means two weeks off of the ankle completely, and then 6 - 8 weeks recovery, followed by physical therapy. With the Greg Factor, that actually means 5 weeks completely off of it, and then 20 weeks of physical therapy. I apply the same theory to the GF as I do to figuring out how long it will take me to find a letterbox: figure about how long it should take, double that, then add a half hour.
Of course he is really depressed about this, as well as stressed. How are we supposed to finish the house and get it on the market if he has surgery? Yow. And how is he supposed to get a job when he'll need a bunch of time off right off the bat? Sigh.
Things are never easy, I tell you.

Home For the Day
I stayed home from work today. I have a stupid rib that is out and it is giving me a terrible headache. I've been to the chiropractor and to the massage therapist trying to get it back in place and to stop hurting. Both helped a little, but it still hurts.
I have to say it was nice to stay home and do nothing. The weather was lovely, so I opened the window and sliding door and let in the breeze. After heating my shoulder and when my headache settled down a little, I went outside with the dogs for a little bit. It was too nice a day to waste at work or to waste being home not feeling good, but I managed to waste it.
Okay, this was a really boring post. Sorry.

Stop is Stopping???
OMG! I just got the worst news ever! One of my main resources for books is www.stopyourekillingme.com. I have used this site for a long time and have been so glad that I have a resource I can go to that is so accurate to check on the order books should be read in and keep up to date on what is new in mysteries & adventure. I’ve found lots of great new authors from this site, too. The gal that runs it lives in the Seattle area, and I’ve emailed with her a few times. She’s very nice. She sent an email out the other day saying that for health reasons, she will no longer be updating the site. NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??? Oh, the humanity of it all. She said she’d keep the site up as is for reference, but what about my new books???
Well, hopefully someone will step in and offer to take over her job so it can continue on. There is just no better site out there for mysteries. I wish there was one just like it for romance & sci-fi novels, too.
I just finished a great book called Sex & the Single Vampire by Katie MacAllister. It was so funny. I love funny books. I love funny books about vampires. I can’t wait to read more of her books. There are three or four more in this same series, so I have lots to look forward to.

Urk, urk, urk, blaaat
There is nothing quite like waking up to the sound of a dog barfing. It is a quite the distinctive sound. Urk, urk, urk, blaaaat. Such a pleasant way to start a Monday. It’s even better when it’s 4:30 in the morning and the barfer in question doesn’t bother to get out of bed to barf, but just goes ahead and does it under the covers where she can stay nice and warm. We have laminate flooring for just such occurrences, but does she use it? Noooo. It’s so simple with the laminate flooring…barf on the floor, pick up the pile with a paper towel, run a disinfecting wipe over the area and you are done. No stain, no pain, and no need to change your sheets (that you had just changed two days before) and wash your mattress pad. Not that I think Sophie enjoyed starting her day that way. And I can tell you for sure that Carmen was MOST unhappy to be rousted out of her nice warm bed at 4:30 in the morning so I could throw the sheets in the wash. She was even more unhappy when it was revealed that she would not be going back under the covers any time soon and would have to tough it out on the dog bed. In fact, I would venture to say that Carmen was the most annoyed by the whole situation.
Greg told me later that she flew into his room when he got up and burrowed under his covers. Poor Carmen.

10 Bad Habits
Deb tagged me with a challenge to post the topic “10 Bad Habits or Things I Wish I Could Change About Me.” There are so many things I would like to change that I had a hard time settling on just 10, but I managed to pick out a few to include here. They are listed in no particular order. Don’t think less of me now that you know my dirty secrets!
1. It’s cliché, but I have to go with the usual woman’s complaint…my body. I hate my weight and hate my skin. I wish I could be slim and have beautiful, clear, smooth skin. It is a terrible curse to be 36 and still have acne. Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor. I like to eat. I like food. It likes me, too.
2. I’m lazy. I’d rather play on the computer or read than actually do stuff around the house. Yes, that is why my house is a distaster.
3. I have no self confidence. I had to go and look at 3 other people’s Top 10 list to make sure I was doing this list okay.
4. I spend too much time on the computer doing puzzles or playing games.
5. I have a hard time sticking with goals. I make goals, follow them for about three days, and then give up. I have lots of goals that start on Monday and are over by Thursday.
6. I always have to have something to do with my hands. If I don’t, I tend to bite my nails or pick at my skin. Icky, I know, but I’ve never been able to kick this habit.
7. I’m selfish. I want to do what I want to do and that's that.
8. I’m messy. Okay, I’m a slob. It goes along with the lazy thing.
9. I always have to have something to entertain me. Greg says I have ADD because I can’t sit quietly for a moment. He just might be right.
10. I have a hard time making decisions. I am so bad at this. It goes along with the no self confidence thing, I’m sure, but making decisions is so hard for me.
11. Oh yeah, I forgot one. Remembering things.
I think it’s important to see the positive side of things along with the not-so-positive, so here are 10 Good Habits or Things I Like About Myself. (Deb, you have to do this, too!)
1. I’m a problem solver. This is actually both a blessing and a curse because sometimes there is no solution to the problem.
2. I’m a good listener.
3. Greg says I'm an expert reader. I love to read and really like to learn, too.
4. I’m a good worker, and, when I put my mind to it, good at organizing
5. I know lots of weird stuff from all my reading. Comes in handy sometimes.
6. I love animals. If I'm going to donate time or money I prefer it goes to animal things. Animals can't help themselves, and rely on us to do it. I love my pets and other people's too.
7. I'm compassionate.
Oh, this is really bad. I can only come up with 7! There must be other things I like about me. Well, I'll think on it and get back to you.

Letterboxing Fun
I did a very selfish thing on Sunday. Very selfish. I went to a letterboxing gathering in Olympia instead of staying home to work on the floor. I know I have no room to talk because Greg has done the entire floor by himself with minimal help from me, but I am so sick and tired of the stupid floors. It is so stupid, but I totally HATE that floor. It is always hanging over us like some huge albatross that we will never be rid of. I swear it is starting to take on an evil life of its own. That damned floor keeps us from doing fun stuff, continues to be something that makes Greg hurt more, and is the cause of 90% of the unhappiness in our house. I totally wish we could just pay someone to come in and finish it all for us and be done with it. I don’t even care how much it costs (since we don’t have any money anyway), I just want it DONE!
With that said, I chose to go letterboxing instead of staying home and conceding to the evil floors wishes. It was a terribly selfish thing to do, but it was so fun. The gathering was in Priest Point Park in Olympia, which is about an hour and a half from my house. I left the house about 8:00 and was up there by 9:30 or so. Just before Longview, Melanie caught up to me, and we caravanned the rest of the way together. Once we got to the park started the Flingin’ Flowers series. Got boxes 1 and 2 with no problem, but got stumped on 3. Decided to move on to 4 and got stumped there, too. Good thing about that one is while we were trying to figure out the clue for #4, I spied an interesting pile of sticks behind a tree and found one of the Nail Family’s Fun & Games Series boxes. I love it when you find a box you weren’t looking for. Very nice carvings, with fun clues (even if a few of them needed revising). We moved on to start the Priest Point Park Centennial Series and found #1 in a great place. Took a whole bunch of us to figure it out, though. It was tricky! Finally, another group of us headed off to do the Nail Family’s Fun & Games Series.
All in all I ended up with 10 finds. Also added a bunch of travelers and exchanges to my count. I met so many nice people. It is wonderful to go to a gathering outside your normal group and see new people. I think out of the whole group I only knew 7 or 8 people before I got there (Campfire Lady, Miniles, Aunt Teri, Cats Meow, Maiden, and Tooth Fairy, and the Nail Family). It was great to meet so many new folks. We had a great time exchanging stamps and travelers and chit chat.
The Event Stamp was actually hidden for this Gathering. The clues, written on the tablecloths of each of the picnic tables, were pretty cryptic. I headed out with Campfire Lady & Cats Meow to find it. We did pretty good on the first couple of clues & were standing around looking lost and confused when ClioMouse & Thunderbird came up to us saying they had been off looking for the stamp with no luck and wanted follow us to see how we interpreted the clues. We followed the directions to where we thought it should be based on the cryptic clues and found no box. Eventually, we were joined by a bunch more letterboxers (everyone left at the gathering, basically, that hadn't picked it up yet) all looking for the stamp. Someone went to get Buppster to have HER find it for us, since we had all these letterboxers standing around (oh so casually) completely stumped. She walked over to the same log we figured it should be under and couldn't find it either. We were all SO bummed. Who would have DARED to steal the event stamp -- at the event itself?? The idea! To go to an event and NOT come home with the event stamp? It was unthinkable! ClioMouse was ready to start interrogating every person seen in the area (I do like that girl) and someone went and asked the people at Kitchen #3 if they had seen it. No luck. A great sadness settled over the group. I swear for a few minutes you would have thought someone died.
We were all sadly heading back to our kitchen to grumble about the total unfairness of it all, when M & E (Mike & Elaine) oh so casually strolled over and returned the box to its hiding spot. They had pulled the box to stamp in and did what all good letterboxers should do and moved away from the area to stamp in. By this time the whole gathering was hanging out by the beginning of the trail (which was very narrow and had no place for such a big group to huddle), so we just brought it out to the picnic table and had a nice group stamp in. It was pretty funny.
So that was my selfish day on Sunday. I forgot my camera, so I have no pictures of this event. I’m hoping someone will post some of theirs to one of the websites soon, so I can put a link to it.

We Did a Bad Thing!
We did a bad thing on Saturday. We got new cell phones. We’ve been with T-mobile for about 5 years and haven’t been happy with their service coverage. I couldn’t get service out at Jeff & Ramona’s in Estacada, couldn’t get service at some parts of the beach (where other people could), and half the time we couldn’t even get service in our own house. Since we are toying with the idea of doing away with our land lines, we decided the first thing we needed to do was have a phone service we could actually use from our house. So we went shopping. At first we were just kind of looking to look. Pretty soon we got sucked in. So we switched to Verizon, which seems to have the best coverage around here, and both got new phones. Greg & I have always gone with the cheap-o phone, you know, the least expensive one you can get. This time we upgraded a little bit. We ended up getting our phones at Costco, and after rebates and everything I think we’ll pay about $40 for these two phones. They are so awesome. We both got an LG VX5200 (http://www.mobiledia.com/phones/lg/vx5200.html) The phones sound great, and Greg said when I called him today that he couldn’t tell if I was on a cell or a land line. It’s so nice.
I don’t even know everything this phone can do. The book for it is an inch thick and it came with instructions on CD, too. It is so danged cool. And it has a camera! How wild is that. Okay, I know I said I’d never buy a phone that did all that fluffy stuff and that I just wanted to make calls with my phone, and I still feel that way, but it is kind of cool to have a phone with a camera.
I took a couple of pictures with it, just to test it out, and the pictures turned out terrible. I was so disappointed until I realized that I still had the nerd guard on the cover of the phone and the camera was taking pictures through that. Der!

Scotty Doesn't Know
Mom, you will totally hate this movie, so you can skip this. I saw this hillarious movie called "Eurotrip" and it’s about this guy who has a pen pal in Germany and goes to Europe to meet her. Funny, funny movie. I don’t know what it is about those teenagers coming of age kind of movies, but I seem to like them. I have that stupid song stuck in my head now “Scotty doesn’t know, Scotty doesn’t know….” I’d better go to Borders at lunch and see if they have the soundtrack. It is a really great song, even if it is kind of…um…dirty.
Oh, look, I found the web site that has the song. Maybe I can get it out of my head now.

I'm back!
I can not believe how quickly the past three days passed! It was a terrific weekend, though. It just went way too quickly.
I got up at the butt crack of dawn on Friday morning, loaded up the car, and was on the road by 7:00 (which included a trip back home after realizing I forgot my coat). I just leisurely drove down and made a few stops on the way. Once for breakfast in Woodburn, once in Salem to pick up a couple of letterboxes, and then a quick stop in Albany to pick up one at the library. How fun is that? I made it down to the house (which is south of Newport) just before 1:00. I thought I would be the last one there, but it turned out I was the first one there. So nice! Christine showed up about a half hour after I did. Michele, Ritha, and Elaine stopped in Lincoln City to shop at the Outlet Stores and made it there about 3:00. Charlene and Kathleen got there about 8:30. Char picked Kathleen up at the airport on the way to the beach. She had been in Disney World with her family for Spring Break. I think she needed a vacation from her vacation, so she came along.
The weather was typical for the Oregon Coast in March - both nice and nasty. Friday and Saturday there would be periods of beautiful warm weather, followed by quick bursts of wind and chilly, pouring down rain that only lasted a few minutes (usually when I had just found the letterbox and was stamping in to my log book). Sunday it rained almost all day. It made driving interesting. I must have used up half my reservoir of windshield wiper fluid on this trip. Good thing I topped it off before I left. Not such a good thing that I washed the car before I left.
I took a bunch of pictures of the house before everyone came and we messed it all up. What a great house! You can see it at http://www.agatheringplace.net/. I’ll be posting some of my pictures here later. I need to figure out how to do the photo album thing like Deb has on her blog. Anyway, the house was really great. It is on the beach, but you can’t get to the beach from the house. It’s on a 25 foot high cliff overlooking the beach, but you can still see the ocean from the living room. It has 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a huge great room upstairs, and a big porch with a hot tub. The beach access is about a quarter of a mile down the road and very secluded. Even though there were a gazillion people driving around in Newport, there were hardly any others on the beach and only a few staying in the houses around us.
Once everyone arrived and settled in we started dragging out all of our scrapbooking gear. Three of us were doing digital scrapping, three were doing traditional scrapping, and Kathleen was knitting (she’s a big scrapbooker, but didn’t bring her stuff since she came straight from the airport). I took every scrapbooking item I owned, which turned out to be both a blessing and a curse. I was working on the pictures from our Mexico cruise (yeah, that was in 2003), but was having problems finishing anything. I don’t know why, really. I kept getting distracted by other things and couldn’t settle down and focus. Too many choices, I guess. I did a couple of nice pages before I decided to put it aside to work on something else, but started going through all the pictures I brought and showing them off to everyone. I used to be so much more interesting than I am now!! The pictures I brought were all loose ones that hadn’t been put in an album, and there was quite a variety. There were wedding pictures, cruise pictures, lots of camping and beach trips, pets, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and all kinds of interesting ones. I had divided them up by year into two boxes, and had a lot of fun looking at them. I liked seeing us all young and skinny.
I learned something for next time. Plan what you are going to work on and have an idea what you are going to do with the pages before you go. Taking everything I owned, and everything I wanted to scrapbook was too much. It was nice to have all the supplies and paper and stuff there, but I had too much to work on to really settle. Christine had a plan for her scrapbooking and did 20 pages or more! Show off. Michele and Charlene were learning Elements 4.0 and experimented with different pages. Michele downloaded pictures from everyone’s digital cameras and made some pages of our weekend right there. I’ll post those later, too. Ritha puttered around with some digital pages, which surprised us all. Whenever we get together to scrap at her house (she has the best stuff and a room dedicated to scrapping) she is so busy taking care of all of us and helping us with ideas that she rarely ever completes a page. Elaine, who is a new scrapper, did just a couple of pages, but they were amazing! She spent a lot of time making die cuts and cutting out letters with Ritha’s Sizzix machines (man, are those cool!). She did some really cool stuff. I probably should do that too.
One thing we have to do next time is have a “show” at the end so we can see what everyone did. I was so busy with my own stuff, I didn’t get to see a lot of what the others did.
After a while I found a bunch of BC’s baby pictures. He was such a cute kitten. I got really sad looking at them, since Sunday was the one year anniversary of his death. I thought about starting a book for him, which is something I have always planned to do for all my pets, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it this weekend. I had to laugh at some of them, since he documented being such a little brat to Sweet Pea.
We each had a meal group that was in charge of one meal’s preparation and clean up. It worked really well, because no one was stuck in the kitchen the whole weekend. We took turns taking care of each other and it was just really nice. I thought it might be awkward to vacation with co-workers, since I had never done it before, but with this group of ladies it was so comfortable and nice. We made fun of each other, teased each other, and were kind to each other. It was like what I picture being with a bunch of sisters would be like. I can’t believe no one thought to take a group picture. Duh!
Sunday came around too early. We all pitched in to clean the place, and haul all the junk back to the cars. Before we knew it, it was time to go home. I drove home through Lincoln City and picked up a few letterboxes on the way home. It rained most of the way home and traffic was heavy. I got stuck in traffic on I-5 for a while because of an accident, but for the most part it moved right along. Boy was I pooped when I drove in the driveway at about 5:00.
I can’t wait to do this again. We are already planning another weekend in November, exclusively for digital scrapping. I’m counting down the days!
