Summoned

I made the mistake of getting the mail today. I got a summons for jury service. Stop laughing, Leah. I know I made fun of you for getting called...guess that came back to bite me on the butt, didn't it?

Not only have I been summoned for jury service, I was summoned for FEDERAL jury service. If I get picked for a jury I have to go to TACOMA (136 miles away according to Google maps). Ta-friggin-coma. I can't just do Clark County jury service and drive 10 miles to downtown Vancouver. Oh nooooooo. Has to be the outskirts of Seattle. Sheesh.

Here are some of the great things I can look forward to if I get called to serve on a Federal trial...

48.5 cents per mile
$40 per day attendance fee (which I will turn over to the city so I can get my regular salary)
$167 for hotel & food.
Any public transportation, parking, or toll fees.

Well, it is my "fundamental obligation we all share as citizens of the Untied States" to serve, so I'll just do it. I really won't mind too much. It will be a good experience.

And just last night I was wishing something interesting would happen. Be careful what you wish for!

Are you sure that it wasn't a mistake to send you that far? Anyone you can check with?
