Kathleen Woodiwiss died yesterday. Her book Shanna was the first real romance book I ever read. She wasn't the most prolific of romance authors, but for ages and ages she was one of my favorites. A Rose in Winter is still up there in my top 10 favorite books of all time.
There isn't a lot of information on the web about her. All the information I did find though, agrees that her novels were the foundation for the modern day romance.
I think I'll have to re-read A Rose In Winter in tribute.
