Knittn Kitten
The prices seemed reasonable. Lots of different kinds of yarn from $1 up to $8 or $9 for alpaca yarn, which seems pretty good to me.
Anyway, it's very cool. If any of you have craft supplies that you would like to get rid of or just don't know what to do with them, this is the place to go. And if you are looking for inexpensive yarn or fabric or whatever, it's a good place to look.

No Fair!
Does this mean I get to lower my goal by 50% also?
Sorry, hungry people. You aren’t important enough to get 20 grains of rice anymore. Take your 10 grains and be happy with it.

Another Bailout Request
So with that in mind, you'll love this one. Kind of gives a new meaning to the term “stimulus package” doesn’t it?
Ode to my L.L. Bean Storm Chaser Slip On Boots

I am not usually a name brand shopper. I am also not a name brand dropper, but I have to tell you about my L.L. Bean boots. I got these boots two years ago to wear out on the trail when I’m letterboxing and it is muddy. I think the first time I wore them was for the Rat Race. I don’t think I really appreciated these little guys until we had our snowstorm a couple of weeks ago. I wore my SCSOB everywhere I went outside that whole week and my tootsies stayed nice and toasty and dry. I totally hate having my feet cold and wet, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that no matter how long I was out and what I stepped in, as long as the snow or water didn't go over the ankle part, my feet stayed dry and warm. And they have pretty good traction on them, too.
So, if you are looking for a good pair of outdoor boots, I highly recommend these!

I’m just glad 2008 is over. Here’s hoping 2009 will be divine! (I have got to quit coming up with these obnoxious little sayings!)
Okay, so here is the round up on my resolutions from 2008:
1. Read 125 books
Didn't quite make this one. I ended up with 114.
Favorite book of the year? I had several this year. I loved Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I also read the Ungodly by Richard Rhodes which was a fictionalized story about the Donner Party. I really enjoyed the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. In fact, I read a lot of paranormal books this year. I seemed to be on quite a vampire/werebeast/witch/fairy kick this year.
2. Listen to 100 audio books
Didn't quite make this one either. I ended up with 81.
Favorite audio of the year? You Suck by Christopher Moore. This one made me laugh out loud.
3. Find 150 letterboxes
I kicked this one's ass! Okay, most of it was over one wonderful weekend, but still. Huh, when I went to look up how many I found this year, I discovered I haven’t updated my list since June. Okay, after updating it, I found 192. Ha! Kicked the snot out of that goal!
4. Start Flying again!
Uh, no.
5. Finish 2 open craft projects.
Done! I finished several things. A couple of hats, a scarf, and a couple of squares for a joint blanket some gals at work were making.
6. Stop coming to work looking like I rolled out of bed.
Got some new spiffy clothes and shoes and worked hard at actually doing make up and hair.
7. Really, REALLY need to start eating better.
Lost about 15 pounds this year!
8. Finish the damned floors.
Didn't happen.
9. Make the money problems go away.
Didn't happen. I think they got worse.
10. Organize the family room, craft room and office.
Didn't happen. In fact, they got worse.
So for 2009 I'm not making resolutions. Instead I am starting a 101 in 1001 list. You can see it under my Wysiwyg Girl blog linked on the side over there.

I Weep for the Future
I watched a lot of news coverage during our recent storm. I’ve also seen some of the cranky emails and comments people have posted in various areas of media (including some from the particular city I work for). I’ve also watched people drive during this mess. I have completely lost all faith in the human race. It seems like everyone expects the government OWES them every little want and need. What happened to being self sufficient and taking responsibility for yourself? What happened to planning ahead? What happened to basic human kindness and understanding?
Some examples:
· The person who called the city (not mine, another one) hopping mad because the city had put down gravel on her street and now her kids couldn’t sled on it and wanted to know when the city was going to come and pick it all up.
· All the people who were furious with ODOT for closing several miles of I-5 while they graded and de-iced it because of dangerous driving conditions that had already caused 10 trucks to pile up in an accident and causing a traffic jam that took hours and hours to clear.
· All the people who are hopping mad because the roads were so bad that all garbage pick up was cancelled last week and their garbage is piling up.
· Every single grouchy person that called the city pissed off that their particular street had not yet been plowed.
· Every single person that called 911 with some lame-ass problem like they couldn’t get out of their driveway to go Christmas shopping
I have another movie quote for you. This time from Men in Black
Edwards: Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it.
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.
That’s the moral of this post. People are dumb.
